Neighbors Helping Neighbors

With the suspension of SNAP benefits, more than 2,200 Rowan County families could face food insecurity this November. Now, more than ever, our community must come together.

Rowan County Schools is calling on local organizations, businesses, and individuals to help fill the SNAP gap and ensure no child in Rowan County goes hungry.

In partnership with the City of Morehead, Rowan County Government, Rowan County Emergency Management, Print USA, Gateway Head Start, UK St. Claire, Morehead Optimist Club, and Rowan County Community Fund, we are launching a community-wide effort to support families in need.

If you’d like to make a monetary gift that will go directly toward purchasing needed food items for Rowan County families, you can use the link below.

If you would like to contribute food toward the cause, Rowan County Schools are having a drop off event at the Old Rowan County Middle School at 415 West Sun Street on November 6th and 7th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Items requested are:

  • Macaroni and Cheese

  • Pasta and Sauce

  • Peanut Butter

  • Canned Meats and Soups

However our first event, Pack the Van, will take place this week at Kroger and Walmart. Shoppers will be encouraged to purchase shelf-stable meals that are on the flyer and drop them in the van after checkout.
