What's New in Rowan County: Services, Facilities, and Funding Updates
Rowan County continues to make progress on several key initiatives that impact residents across the community. From new facilities to funding operations and service improvements, here’s the latest updates:
Senior Center Progress
The new Rowan County Senior Center is nearing completion, with a firm opening date expected to be announced next month. The facility will offer expanded programs, activities, and resources for seniors, providing a central hub for social engagement, wellness initiatives, and community services. County officials are excited to see residents take advantage of this modern space.
Sherriff’s Office Taser Grant
The Sherriff’s Department will apply for a $47,000 grant to purchase tasers for the department. This funding would enhance officer safety and strengthen security measures, ensuring operations continue to meet high standards for both staff and public protection.
Rumpke Trash Service Transition
Rumpke is now the county’s official trash collection provider, replacing Waste Management. While the transition experienced some initial challenges, Rumpke representatives have affirmed their commitment to reliable service. Residential trash will be collected quarterly, while commercial accounts will continue on a monthly schedule. All existing payments to Waste Management have been transferred to the new system to ensure continuity for residents.
Rowan County remains focused on improving services, supporting community safety, and enhancing quality of life for all residents. More updates will be shared as projects and initiatives progress.
