County Extension Office in Motion
The Rowan County Extension Office continues its mission of supporting residents through educational outreach, hands-on learning, and community engagement. This month, the Court approved the reappointment of David Clark and Robin Mirus to the Extension District Board for another three-year term, effective January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2028. Their continued service ensures stable leadership and ongoing support for the many programs the Extension Office provides across the county.
The office recently hosted a series of well-received community classes, including a gardening workshop with six participants and a cooking class that welcomed fifteen attendees. Both programs offered practical, skills-based instruction, giving participants the opportunity to learn new techniques while connecting with others who share similar interests. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, reflecting strong community interest in accessible, hands-on learning opportunities.
Looking ahead, the Extension Office is preparing for its upcoming “Cook Together, Eat Together” program. This class is open to all ages, with a special emphasis on engaging middle and high school students in developing essential cooking and nutrition skills. The goal is to foster confidence in the kitchen while encouraging healthy habits that can benefit families for years to come.
