MMRC Board

The John Will Stacy MMRC Regional Industrial Park, established in 1996 as an initiative of Governor Paul Patton to create economic development opportunities in rural counties across the Commonwealth using coal severance funds from coal producing counties. The MMRC is a partnership between Morgan, Menifee, and Rowan Counties.

When the Legislature convened and began taking up this legislation, elected officials representing our region pressed the need for this park to be located in Rowan County due to proximity to the interstate. Since Rowan County was not a coal producing county, it took some negotiating amongst legislators to convince others that these types of projects are all about location for success. Once this passed, it allowed for a non-coal producing county to partner with at least two other counties that produce coal. 20 years later, the decisions made have proven invaluable to the region as the park has grown and developed bringing more than 1,000 jobs to the region.

The park currently offers more than 280 acres for development and provides critical infrastructure for water, sewer, and gas that are essential for recruiting business. Moreso, it takes partnerships and investments to continue growing the park and building an attractive marketing strategy to encourage business interest.

One such investment opportunity is the Product Development Initiative currently available from the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development. As the economic momentum continues to accelerate at record pace across the Commonwealth, so do opportunities right here at home.

The funding is a 50/50 match between the Cabinet for Economic Development and the MMRC Regional Industrial Authority totaling $425,000 for development and extending infrastructure to create a 150,000 square foot pad ready site for vertical construction.

These types of investments are important because this accelerates the building process and allows for a more affordable development by site developers looking to invest in our county and region.

The MMRC Board is composed of six members, two each from Menifee, Morgan, and Rowan County. They are responsible for land sales and development in the park.
