Addressing complaints from Rowan County citizens and what could possibly be a health hazard to others. Keeping roads and individuals property free of trash and debris. Making Rowan County a better place to live.

Litter Abatement

  • Grant funded.

  • Trash pickup on roadsides.

  • 2-3 crews from the inmate work program.

  • Dumpsite cleanups.

Tire Collection

  • $4,000 yearly tire disposal grant.

  • Every three years the state holds a tire collection event without limits.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

  • State grant funded.

  • Annual event.

  • Acceptance of some household waste that can’t be disposed of at the landfill.

People must be aware before purchasing or starting to build on property that is located in a floodplain.

  • Floodplain assessments to determine what zone your property is in.

  • Permitting any work that is being done in a floodplain.

  • Nothing can be done in a floodway.

  • People need to be aware of the possible dangers.

Electrical Permitting

An electrical permit is required in order to get electric turned on to:

  • New home constructions.

  • Service upgrades.

  • Mobile homes.

  • Commercial buildings.
