Board Highlights

Gateway Area Development District Board

The Gateway Area Development District (GWADD) is a multi-county organization serving its five-county area of east central Kentucky, charged with planning, promoting, and coordinating programs for regional economic and social development. They assist in the formulation and implementation of human resource and infrastructure plans. GWADD helps local officials and citizens unite to plan growth in the area, responding to the needs of all. The District's board collaborates with community leaders and government agencies to determine goals and create a strategy to achieve them.

 

In addition to its regional planning role, GWADD provides technical and management assistance to local communities in a variety of areas. The Gateway Area Development District gives help to local economic development agencies and to planning commissions, prepares applications for public funding seekers, and provides assistance in meeting administrative requirements of various Federal and State programs as well grant assistance for local governments.

 

Recently, they have been involved in big efforts in Rowan County such as helping us obtain the CDBG grant that we will be using for our secondary ambulance service building. We are excited for the needs this will meet for our growing county and are thankful for their help.
