County Projects and Improvements

Rowan County continues to make strategic investments in community projects and infrastructure, reflecting a commitment to both environmental stewardship and quality of life for residents.

A key development is the county’s success in securing funding through the SWIFR grant. This grant will support the expansion of recycling services, including enhancements at the local recycling center and support for residents in Menifee and Morgan counties, which currently lack convenient recycling options. The implementation of these improvements is scheduled for May 2026 and will provide residents with greater access to recycling programs, helping to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and strengthen the county’s environmental initiatives.

In addition to the SWIFR grant, the Environmental Services Department intends to apply for a Crumb Rubber Grant. If awarded, this grant will allow for the installation of a safer, more resilient surface at the playground in Harry T. Clark Community Park. Unlike traditional mulch, crumb rubber provides a softer landing area for children, reducing the risk of injuries while enhancing the overall usability and longevity of the playground.

Road safety remains a priority, with repair work underway on the bank slip along Bluestone. These repairs are essential for ensuring safer travel for drivers in the area and maintaining the reliability of the county’s roadways.

Meanwhile, the developing Rowan County Senior Center is taking shape as a welcoming and accessible facility for older residents. Local business Angie’s Buds and Blooms is providing landscaping services, creating an inviting exterior and a pleasant outdoor space for visitors to enjoy. This attention to detail underscores the county’s dedication to community spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Taken together, these projects highlight Rowan County’s commitment to practical, resident-focused improvements. From expanded recycling programs and safer roads to accessible, inviting community spaces, these efforts demonstrate a clear focus on creating a more sustainable, safe, and livable county for all residents.
